Mark started his a cappella career singing In The Still Of The Night and Uptown Girl in a vocal quartet in high school. He then went off to Worcester Polytechnic Institute to study Computer Science, but couldn't shake the a cappella bug so he helped form a coed collegiate a cappella group called Asymmetric. By the end of the year he decided to return to Maine, attend the University of Southern Maine, and study classical voice. Many groups and many years later, he now finds himself with Sidecar Heroes where he sings baritone and arranges. When not singing or spending time with his family, he also likes to dabble in graphic design and web development.
Six men, six unique instruments, all combining to create the tight harmonies and rockin' rhythms which comprise Sidecar Heroes' eclectic repertoire of vocal music. They've got Rock, Doo Wop, Motown, Funk and many other styles. No genre is safe from their ever searching arrangers. Sidecar Heroes is based out of Southern Maine and currently performs all over Maine and New Hampshire. The group's members; Jason, Mark, D.B., Shawn, Lee, and Devan all have been immersed in the a cappella scene since college and represent such groups as the UMaine Steiners, Six Day Week, and Fourtnight to name a few. With their many years of performing experience coupled with some exciting arranging chops, Sidecar Heroes offers an exciting and entertaining a cappella concert that everyone will enjoy.

Devan Porter
Tenor
Devan is really glad to be singing a cappella again! Raised in a house with no musicians, it wasn't until high school that Devan got into music by singing in his high school chamber singers and teaching himself guitar. His first and only a cappella experience before Sidecar Heroes was with the Maine Steiners('07-'08). Other than work and music, Devan likes to snowboard, hike, play basketball, and always does his best to stay out of trouble. |
Jason Paquette
Tenor
Jason grew up in Ellsworth, Maine. He started piano lessons in the second grade. Both parents are music teachers. It was almost a given this kid would be musically talented. He started singing a cappella music in college with the University of Maine Stieners. While in college he also sang with a Barbershop Quartet as well as an auditioned chorus The University of Maine Singers. He has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Maine in Orono and is currently the Chorus Teacher at Morse High School in Bath, ME. He likes to fish. Jason plays Nintendo Wii. He also really enjoys almonds. If you have any questions about him, please feel free to contact us. |
Shawn Fitzgerald
Tenor/Lead
Shawn was born in Bangor, Maine. At around 7 or 8 years of age, he heard someone really good sing, thought to himself, 'hey, i could probably do that', and has been doing so ever since. Shawn studied at the University of Maine in Orono where he performed with the University of Maine Singers and University of Maine Steiners. He hopes one day to be James Bond, or to see a real life zombie apocalypse, preferably both. |
Lee Hunter
Vocal Percussion
Lee grew up in rural central Maine on a farm where there was nothing to do but toss cows and play music. Singing and performing through his childhood years and into college, he dipped into virtually every genre; from barbershop to classical to contemporary. Equipped with a music minor and public relations degree, he joined Sidecar Heroes in 2008 and has been spitting beats for them ever since. |
